Can this be repaired or do I need a whole new roof?
What roofing companies need to publish
They suspect the answer is 'replace' and they suspect that answer is self-serving, so the reasoning has to be visible.
How customers actually ask it
The same intent arrives in wording your page probably does not use. All of these mean the same thing:
- “Can this be repaired or do I need a whole new roof?”
- “is a roof patch enough”
- “can you just fix the leak”
- “how do I know if I need a new roof”
What a complete answer contains
For roofing companies specifically, an answer is only complete when it covers all 5:
- 1
The conditions under which a repair is genuinely correct — isolated damage on an otherwise sound roof
- 2
The signals that make repair a waste: widespread granule loss, curling, multiple leak points, age past the material's life
- 3
That the number of existing layers constrains the options
- 4
How decking condition is assessed and why it is only fully known after tear-off
- 5
That a repair on a roof near end-of-life may void the case for an insurance claim later
A worked example
Illustrative — not a real business
If the roof is under fifteen years old and the damage is confined to one area — a few blown shingles, a failed flashing — repair is right and we will say so. Replacement is the honest answer when there are leaks in several places, the shingles are curling or losing granules across the whole slope, or the roof is past its material life. We check the layer count first, because two layers must come off regardless. Decking rot is only fully visible after tear-off, so that is quoted as a per-sheet contingency rather than guessed.
Which page should own it
Repair versus replacement page
What silence costs
Every roofer says 'you need a new roof'. Publishing when you do not is what separates the quote that gets accepted.

AI customer support for roofing companies
A roofing inquiry splits into two very different paths on the first question: is this storm damage heading toward an insurance claim, or an out-of-pocket repair. RubyRep asks that early and answers accordingly — free inspection and claim-assistance process for the first, an honest estimate process for the second — instead of giving one generic answer to both.

What is AI customer service?
AI customer service means answering customer questions with a language model rather than a person. The useful implementations are grounded in a specific business's own content; the poor ones let a general model improvise, which produces confident answers that are wrong.

What is a knowledge base?
Traditionally a knowledge base is a help centre humans read. For AI support it is the source material a representative answers from — which means an ordinary website, well written, can serve as one without a separate help centre.
