How to add an AI chatbot to Squarespace

Squarespace has a Code Injection panel built for exactly this. Paste your snippet into the Footer field under Settings → Advanced → Code Injection and it appears site-wide. You need a Business plan or higher — Personal plans cannot run custom code.

Availability: Business plan or higher. Code Injection is not available on Personal plans.

Adding the chatbot to Squarespace

    From your Squarespace dashboard, open Settings.

    Go to Advanced → Code Injection.

  3. 3

    Paste your RubyRep snippet into the Footer field.

  4. 4

    Click Save.

  5. 5

    Visit your live site to confirm the launcher appears.

Your own key replaces rr_your_public_key — you get it after training RubyRep on your site.

Worth knowing on Squarespace

  • Code Injection requires a Business plan or above. On Personal, the panel is hidden entirely.

  • Custom code does not run in the Squarespace editor preview — check the live site.

  • Squarespace checkout pages do not run injected code, so the widget will not appear there.

  • If you use a cover page as your homepage, injected code does not run on it.

Squarespace questions

I don't see Code Injection in my settings.
You are on a Personal plan. Code Injection unlocks on Business and above — that is a Squarespace restriction.
Will it appear on every page?
Yes, footer injection is site-wide. The exceptions are checkout and cover pages, which Squarespace excludes from custom code.
