Sitemap structure analyzer
Enter a sitemap and see how your URLs are actually distributed.
Analyses the shape of your URL set rather than its contents: how deep pages sit, which sections dominate, and what extensions appear. Deep pages cost crawl budget, and this is how you find them.
How it works
- 1
Every URL is broken into path segments.
- 2
We count how many URLs sit at each depth, group them by first path segment, and tally file extensions.
- 3
Anything more than three or four levels deep is flagged — depth costs crawl budget.
Questions about this tool
- Why does path depth matter?
- Not because of the URL itself, but because deep URLs are usually far from the homepage in clicks too. Crawlers allocate budget by importance, and importance is largely inferred from internal links.
- What is a good distribution?
- Most pages within three levels, with the largest sections being the ones you actually care about ranking. If your biggest section is /tag or /archive, that is where your crawl budget is going.
