Do I get an induction or a programme?

What gyms and studios need to publish

They are worried about walking into a gym floor and not knowing what to do. This is the anxiety that stops people joining, and it is rarely stated directly — it arrives as a question about inductions.

How customers actually ask it

The same intent arrives in wording your page probably does not use. All of these mean the same thing:

  • “Do I get an induction or a programme?”
  • “do I get shown around”
  • “is personal training included”
  • “help getting started”
  • “do you write me a plan”

What a complete answer contains

For gyms and studios specifically, an answer is only complete when it covers all 5:

  1. 1

Whether an induction is included, compulsory or optional

  2. 2

How long it takes and whether it is one-to-one or a group

  3. 3

Whether a written programme is included or is a paid extra

  4. 4

How much personal training costs, if it is separate

  5. 5

How to book it, and whether it must happen before first use of the gym floor

A worked example

Illustrative — not a real business

Every new member gets a free one-to-one induction of about 45 minutes, covering the equipment and a starting programme written for you. It is not compulsory, but the gym floor is card-access until you have done it or told us you would rather skip it. Personal training beyond that is £40 a session, or £180 for six.

Which page should own it

Membership or getting-started page

What silence costs

The most nervous prospective members — the ones with most to gain — quietly decide the gym is not for them.
