How do I cancel?
What SaaS companies need to publish
Sometimes they are leaving. Just as often they are a prospect checking they can leave, because a hard exit is a reason not to enter.
How customers actually ask it
The same intent arrives in wording your page probably does not use. All of these mean the same thing:
- “How do I cancel?”
- “cancel my subscription”
- “how do I downgrade”
- “stop billing”
- “delete my account”
What a complete answer contains
For SaaS companies specifically, an answer is only complete when it covers all 5:
- 1
Whether cancellation is self-serve in the product, or requires contacting someone — the latter is a documented conversion suppressant
- 2
Whether service continues to the end of the paid period or stops immediately
- 3
Your position on pro-rata refunds, stated plainly either way
- 4
What happens to their data and how long they have to export it
- 5
The difference between cancelling and deleting the account
A worked example
Illustrative — not a real business
Cancel from Settings → Billing at any time; no email required. Your workspace stays active until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not pro-rata refund part-months. Export is available for 60 days after cancellation.

Billing section of the help centre
What silence costs
Buyers check the exit before the entrance. A cancellation process that looks like a trap reduces signups, not churn.

AI customer support for SaaS companies
SaaS support is dominated by questions your documentation already answers: what a plan includes, whether a feature exists, how an integration works. RubyRep reads your docs, pricing and changelog and answers those on the site, so trial users get unblocked in seconds instead of waiting on a ticket.

What is AI customer service?
AI customer service means answering customer questions with a language model rather than a person. The useful implementations are grounded in a specific business's own content; the poor ones let a general model improvise, which produces confident answers that are wrong.

What is a knowledge base?
Traditionally a knowledge base is a help centre humans read. For AI support it is the source material a representative answers from — which means an ordinary website, well written, can serve as one without a separate help centre.
Does your site answer this already?
Point RubyRep at your website and ask it this exact question. If it cannot answer, neither can your customers.
